Emotional development, like other developmental levels, takes time and learning opportunities. The staff set clear and reasonable expectations. The environment will eliminate many challenges to children by offering choices, a variety of provocative materials and time to build relationships. We will provide role models for respect, inclusion and empathy in a calm and consistent manner. When challenge arises, we will facilitate by addressing the child’s feelings, offering choices and helping the child with words and options to become a problem solver. We will maintain close communication with the parents in the emotional development of their child, as in all other areas of growth.
